Tea and Toast

Tea and Toast

Yesterday, I was greatly encouraged by a dear sister in Christ. She encouraged me to simplify my spiritual diet when going through a spiritual storm/sickness, just as we simplify our diet when we are physically unwell. So this morning, as I sat and ate my regular breakfast, I shared the moment with the Lord, which resulted in the following poem.

Every morning as I eat toast and drink tea

I’m reminded of ‘Christ in me’.

I remember the brokenness of His body

the Covenant of His blood

The promise of His Kingdom come.

My daily bread with melting butter

Peanut butter and vegemite

Reminds me how He has melted my heart

And set things right.

He has made me the salt of the earth

and has smothered me

in His warm love

just like the tea.

With every sip that I drink down

I’m reminded of that Kingly crown.

That King of kings and Lord of lords

That One who died for us all.

His promise of return

To embrace His bride.

That blood that flowed out

from His side.

My daily bread

My daily drink.

Of His sufferings will I partake.

Of His joy and resurrected life

I share in these

My great delight.

Enjoy a simple day with the Lord folks! 🙂
