Here’s a little fun for you folks and maybe another way of drawing from the Lord’s well of life. I hope so.

A couple of years ago Derek and I put some new words to a Beach Boys song Wouldn’t It Be Nice. We changed the words to reflect what it would be/could be/should be/is like, in the body of Christ, as a local community of saints in one another’s lives under His Headship, giving Him expression. This means sticking it out together through the hard times, just like in a marriage. And when we weather those storms together and don’t abandon ship but turn to the Lord, and look and see Christ in our brothers and sisters, He wins. He gets the glory.

Maybe you are stuck in a rut in how you worship the Lord in song, or how you get to express Him together? Perhaps this will spur on some creative juices in you and open up a whole new way of fellowshipping with Him in songs.

You know, the world is full of secular love songs but the greatest love song of all is the one that God sings to us through Jesus Christ our Bridegroom and that we sing to Him – and when we do that corporately as one voice, as the bride to her Bridegroom? Wowswer. Song of Songs in the Old Testament is a profoundly beautiful revealing of this. Well, I’m sure not saying that this post is like the Song of Songs but the sentiments are the same. When we corporately share Him, eat and drink of Him, waste our lives on Him together, it is like a joyous love song to our Lord.

Derek and I weren’t all that familiar with some parts of this song (as you’ll soon discover) but we sure laughed alot during the videoing of this and it still makes us laugh today (but perhaps it’s just us?!) I heard it said once that if you can laugh at yourself, that’s a good thing. Well, there’s no shortage of that here! And I sense that the church could do with a bit of laughter and lightness right now!

So anyway, dear saint, I thought it could be a bit of fun for you to start your new week and I pray that even though it is definitely a little bit of silliness and reminiscent of the Muppet Show, that still you may be edified and encouraged towards our Lord. I’m just certain that He enjoys it when we have fun with Him together.
