What I’ve Learned About Essential Oils
Recently I looked into essential oils. It came about because of a documentary on Netflix or Stan I think. It was very interesting and sparked my curiosity. I was considering getting something to help my mum with her sundowner condition and got in touch with a sweet lady I know who is right into essential oils. She put me onto some information and to my amazement I discovered there’s a whole world of people out there who are all about essential oils and they just love them. I had no idea there were so many different kinds for so many different uses, let alone what they even were in the first place! It’s a real rabbit hole once you start looking into them.
They’re taken from all natural resources, plants, herbs, and of-course the purest forms are more expensive than the watered down versions in the local supermarket. But you pay for quality right? They make sprays or roll ons. Or you can put some drops here or there, in the bath or on your skin, or around the home. Some people even swallow a drop or two, although I don’t think that is encouraged!
They are used for all kinds of ailments and needs – anxiety, stress, to help with breathing, asthma and so, so much more. Plus, they smell awesome! They’re just beautiful really. It’s lovely to think about all the beauty being drawn together to create these precious oils to bless people in various ways.
But all this got me thinking about the Lord.
Christ is our essential oil. He is like the oil running down Aaron’s beard we read about in Psalm 133.
He is the fragrance, the aroma and the very reality of God in our lives. He brings calm, healing, peace. In fact, He IS calm, healing and peace. He fills our lives, our inner beings, our spirit, our heart, our mind, our bodies, not just our living room. In fact, He IS our living room! lol.
The essential oils in the natural are so beautiful. He made them after all! By Him, through Him and for Him, were all things created.
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16)
They smell so yummy and they seem to change peoples’ lives.
Well, isn’t that a picture of Christ?
He Himself is the source of Life. He is our natural source of all the Father has. He is the fragrance and essence of Goodness. Everything in Him and about Him is good for us.
He is beautiful beyond description, His very own nature is beauty personified. We have tasted Him and seen that He is good. We have eaten and drunk of Him and we are changed. He transforms us.
And like that lovely essential oil community out there, those of us who have seen and touched Him, well we just want everyone to know how good He is!

This was brilliant, Donna! As we make vital contact with our Indwelling and risen Lord, and He “rubs off” on us, we become living diffusers of His essential oil of gladness. I would not have seen Christ in this way if not for this post. Thank you! All of His best to you and Derek.
Oh that’s a wonderful insight brother! Thank you so much for sharing so that other readers can see what the Lord has shown you too! That’s that living diffusion going on right there! Bless you Julio and love to our darling sister.
