Ways to transform your Christian walk

Ways to transform your Christian walk

Some Heavenly Counsel

A couple of years ago, I felt the Lord whisper something along these lines;

Don’t build your well and then look for the water; find the water and build the well.

I knew the thought hadn’t come from me because there was too much wisdom in it. And it is a piece of heavenly advice that I hold in my heart. I share it with you in case you hear something of the Lord in it relating to your life, your decisions and the labours that you desire to do in His name.

May we labour in the field of the Son, the Living Water, that we might be bearers of real life to others. And if we don’t know how, Lord, we ask You to guide and teach us so that our labours are not in vain.

A Transformative Practise

I have just completed my revised edition of To The Young Believer, which is now available in PAPERBACK and Kindle through Amazon. The changes are minor but they were needed and necessary. You can also download a free PDF of the revised edition through my blog site page “My Books” (by clicking on the book image to the right of this page) though there are no images with the PDF version. I think the images have really enhanced the kindle and print versions, though 🙂

In the book, I have a chapter titled A Most Excellent Prayer. It speaks of silent prayer. I learned about silent prayer through Madame Jeanne Guyon’s book Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ. I have read her book half a dozen times over the last ten years, and each time it strengthens my practice of silent prayer.

It may sound strange to contemplate silent prayer. What is it? Is it normal? Is it ok? It sounds so contrary to much of our experience and what we have been raised with regarding prayer. But beloved, I cannot think of anything more transformative in my life than silent prayer.

To sit with the Lord, leaving everything else aside, all petitions, thanks, concerns, thoughts and distractions; to be with the Almighty God in the space of silence. To bring myself to Him without asking anything in return, to be with Him.

In my book, I have coined the term “Divine Silence”. Well, I think I’ve coined it; I’ve not read or heard of that term anywhere else. But it refers to a point in silent prayer where God brings a sense of silence so weighty and great that it seems to surpass the power of all thought. All thought hushes when His divine silence enters in.

Have you ever tried to hush your thoughts? Maybe you’ve been successful for a few seconds. It is an impossibility to stop our thoughts, and God knows that. But to bring our heart quietly before Him, to fellowship with Him in spirit instead of mind and chatter…

If you are open and desiring to know the Lord in deeper intimacy, and you’ve never read Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ, I recommend it to you. It is an incredibly simple and easy read for anyone. Madame Guyon wrote the book for the very simple of heart and reading capacity. I am confident it will bless you and enrich your walk with the Lord as He is blessed by meeting with you in the quiet place.

What do you practise that continues to transform your walk with God?

Early Announcement!

I am currently halfway through writing a second book, To The New Creation. It is aimed at the Christian reader who may wonder why their Christian life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I look forward to announcing its release over the coming months.

Do you have a book inside you waiting to be written? Is it from the Lord? From His well? If so, I pray He leads you in bringing out His word from His heart in yours to those it belongs to, bringing them food that will endure unto eternal life.
