How do you believe what you believe?
Several years back, I was desperate to express how things had changed in my heart due to the revelation of Christ in me. I struggled to find the words because sometimes words are just words. I so wanted to share with those I held dear, in the hope that they would realise the wonder of it all and discover along with me, that Christ is truly alive, that He’s not just religious jargon, and that regardless of much of the old religious ways we may have experienced, this living Christ is fantastic, incredible, unfathomable, brilliant, real, real, real!
I had read and heard about Christ living in me for years, but it wasn’t until the revelation came through the Holy Spirit that I could see. When the revelation dropped into my heart, my spiritual eyes were opened, and everything changed. The words I’d read and heard came alive! For the first time, I understood. It was as though Narnia’s wardrobe was opened to me.
How can you explain revelation beyond just words? Clearly, it is only the work of the Spirit.
Regardless, I endeavoured to capture what was happening for me in song. I only stumbled across this recording the other day, and it filled my heart afresh with such joy.
My dilemma remains: how do I express this wonderful, glorious, life-changing truth unless it is by the Spirit of God?
I pray that even in some small way, the Spirit speaks and touches you as you listen to the song. And that your breath will be taken away, as was mine, at the revelation that Christ lives in you, and what that means.
The recording’s not great. The guitar is louder than the vocals. My timing is off, and there’s a bung chord in there at one point. My vocals are sloppy. But the truth is there.
Here is the recording, and below are the lyrics.
Christ lives in me
Now when I hear I’m free, I believe I’m free
Now when I hear that Christ died for me
I believe Christ died for me
I can’t explain it
But something’s changed inside of me
I believe that Christ lives in me
In me
Now when I hear I’m free, I believe I’m free
Now when I hear that Christ died for me
I believe Christ died for me
I can’t explain it
But something’s changed inside of me
Now I believe that Christ lives in me
In me
Mmmmmm
Jesus lives in me
No longer I who lives
But Christ who lives in me
Christ in me
Christ in me
No longer I who lives
But Christ in me
Christ in me
In me
Now when I hear I’m free, I believe I’m free
Now when I hear that Christ lives in me
I believe Christ lives in me
I can’t explain it
But something’s changed inside of me
Now I believe that Christ lives in me
In me
Jesus lives in me
Jesus lives in me

Yep, only by ‘revelation.’ Eph. 1:15-23. Revelation, then transformation… Thanks Donnalee.
Amen and amen. And such wonderful Scripture. Sorry for late approval and reply, only just saw your comment, Errol. Blessings as always, Donna.
